Borussia Dortmund vs Real Madrid: Real Madrid wins 15th Champions League title
Dortmund's impressive performance not enough to overcome Real Madrid's experience
Dortmund put up a valiant fight, but Real Madrid's experience and quality proved too much in the end.
Real Madrid won a record-extending 15th Champions League title after beating Borussia Dortmund 4-1 in the final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice for Real Madrid, while Gareth Bale, Isco and Sergio Ramos also got on the scoresheet. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a consolation goal for Dortmund.
Dortmund started the game brightly and took the lead through Aubameyang in the 29th minute. However, Real Madrid hit back quickly, with Ronaldo equalizing just two minutes later. Gareth Bale then gave Real Madrid the lead in the 37th minute, and Isco made it 3-1 just before half-time.
Real Madrid controlled the second half and added a fourth goal through Sergio Ramos in the 84th minute. Dortmund never gave up and continued to attack, but they were unable to find a way back into the game.
The victory was a fitting end to a remarkable season for Real Madrid, who also won the La Liga title and the Copa del Rey. Zinedine Zidane's team have now won three Champions League titles in a row, and they are the first team to achieve that feat since Bayern Munich in the 1970s.
For Dortmund, it was a disappointing end to a season that had promised so much. The German club had been in impressive form all season, and they had beaten some of the best teams in Europe on their way to the final. However, they were unable to match Real Madrid's quality and experience on the big day.
Despite the defeat, Dortmund can be proud of their performance this season. They have played some素晴らしい football and they have a bright future ahead of them. With a young and talented squad, Dortmund will be back challenging for the Champions League title again soon.
